KUANTAN: A former Temerloh police chief was sentenced to eight months in jail after being found guilty of 46 counts of accepting bribes totalling RM69,600.
Sessions Court judge Sazlina Safie said the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt over the prosecution's case against Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff, 56.
"The prosecution had successfully proved all the elements of the offences under Section 165 of the Penal Code in respect of all 46 charges," she said.
Azhar had pleaded not guilty on Sept 7, 2023, to 46 charges of accepting bribes between 2019 and 2023.
Section 165 of the Penal Code provides for a maximum jail term of two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
