After a brief hiatus Florida football is once again ranked in the US LBM coaches poll.
The Gators (5-2, 3-2 SEC) moved back into the rankings at No. 24 after pulling off a 27-24 road upset against Texas on Oct. 17.
"The most important thing that happened today is we fought, and winning the game matters," Florida coach Jon Sumrall said. "I want us to always win, but how you play the game matters as much to me. And we today showed a lot of character, a lot of growth."
The victory against the Longhorns was Florida's highest-ranked win in a true road game while being unranked since 2003 against No. 6 LSU. Notably, the Gators last defeated a top-10 team on the road while unranked back in 2004 at No. 10 Florida State.
Florida's win over UT was the program's largest comeback victory against an SEC opponent in a true roadgame since Oct. 13, 2018 at Vanderbilt (18 points). That was also the last time Florida erased a 14-plus-point deficit in the second quarter or later of an SEC game.
Florida will now enjoy an open week before going to Atlanta and facing rival No. 4 Georgia on Oct. 31.
