The Shire of Murray is urging the community to help shape the area’s future as it reviews its 2023-2033 plan.
Shire president Douglas McLarty said the 10-year-plan reflected what mattered in the community and helped guide the shire’s decisions and priorities.

“In 2022, our community came together to shape a vision for the future of Murray,” he said.
“Through these conversations, ideas and feedback, the community helped create the Shire of Murray’s Plan for the Future.”
With a growing community and priorities shifting, the shire is now consulting with the community to make sure the plan still reflects the area’s changing needs.
A three-week consultation period will be held between October 18 and November 9. The shire will update the council plan and adjust services according to feedback.
“The consultation is an opportunity for the community to reflect on what matters most and help ensure the council plan continues to reflect community priorities,” Mr McLarty said.
“We want to hear from the people who live, work, study and spend time in our community. What do you love about where you live? What do you want to protect? And what do you want to see happen next?”
The shire is encouraging everyone across Murray to take part online at murray.wa.gov.au/CouncilPlanUpdate.
Printed surveys have also been sent to households across the shire, and additional copies are available from the shire administration building, Murray library, Murray House Resource Centre and Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
“Your ideas, your hopes and your priorities are important in helping us understand whether our plan is still focused on the things that matter most to our community,” Mr McLarty said.
