The 2026 LX Cup Korean Women's Baseball Championship opens on the 24th. Launched in 2022 with backing from LX Group Chairman Koo Bon-joon, a well-known baseball enthusiast, the tournament is now in its fifth year.
LX Holdings (383800.KS) said on the 22nd that the tournament, co-hosted and organized by LX Group and the Women's Baseball Association of Korea (WBAK), will run on weekends from the 24th through Nov. 1 at LG Champions Park and Dream Field in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. A total of 43 teams and some 1,000 players will compete in a tournament format, with 16 teams in the Champ League, the top division, and 27 teams in the Future League, the second division.
The opening game pits Hura, which is seeking a fourth straight title, against traditional powerhouse Nine Bigs. The finals for each league and the closing ceremony and awards presentation will be held on Nov. 1. All games are free to attend, and major matches including the opener, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will also be streamed live on YouTube.
The LX Cup, one of Korea's leading corporate-sponsored national women's baseball tournaments, reflects the personal commitment of Koo, who previously served as owner of the LG Twins. The tournament's predecessor, the LG Cup Korean Women's Baseball Championship, was also launched in 2012 while Koo was chief executive of LG Electronics. The event was suspended after 2018 before resuming in 2022 under the LX Cup name.
Koo has long funded training camps and development programs in Japan to help promising Korean women's baseball players build their skills through systematic training. He has also provided steady support for identifying and developing young talent in the sport.

An LX Holdings official said, "We hope the 2026 LX Cup Korean Women's Baseball Championship becomes a stage where players can compete at their best and a festival where fans can experience the appeal of women's baseball up close," adding, "We will continue our interest and support so that Korean women's baseball can take another step forward."
