The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of the United States to expand aviation education, professional training and workforce development across Africa.
The agreement was signed to provide a framework for collaboration in academic programmes, professional development and distance learning.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of AAAU, Dr. Mustapha Sheik Abdullahi, in a statement said the agreement was a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to advance aviation and aerospace education across the continent.
Abdullahi said the partnership would support the institution’s drive to broaden academic opportunities and strengthen the quality of aviation training available to African students.
He further explained that the proposed collaboration covers academic instruction, professional development and potential practical flight training.
He said the implementation of the proposed programmes, particularly the flight-training component, would be a key step in determining how the partnership translates into expanded training opportunities for AAAU students.
Abdullahi explained that under the partnership, AAAU students were expected to have the opportunity to undertake selected courses through Embry-Riddle Worldwide from the 2027/2028 academic session and earn certificates from the American institution alongside their AAAU degrees.
Also, the Chancellor of Embry-Riddle Worldwide, Dr. John Watret, expressed the institution’s commitment to supporting aviation and aerospace education programmes that meet high standards of professionalism, quality and safety.
The agreement was also expected to create opportunities for knowledge exchange and the adoption of international best practices in aviation and aerospace education.
