A community coffee morning in the Marina Alta has raised €820 for Cancer Care Jávea, with a generous €100 donation from a guest who emptied their coin jar helping make the fundraising event even more special.
The October gathering brought residents together at Gillian Parker’s home in Gata Residencial, Gata de Gorgos, for an afternoon of coffee, tea, homemade cakes and wine, all in support of the charity’s essential work.
The event was another example of how small acts of kindness can add up to make a real difference to people affected by cancer.
A little kindness goes a long way
Organisers Jane Dickenson, Gillian Parker and Angie Dickenson were praised for bringing everyone together and helping make the afternoon such a success.
Guests supported the fundraiser in a variety of ways, from buying entry and raffle tickets to baking cakes, donating prizes and volunteering their time.
One contribution stood out in particular. A guest generously emptied their coin jar and donated €100 to Cancer Care Jávea, providing a heartwarming reminder that every donation can help support those in need.
Local businesses and individuals also rallied behind the event, donating prizes for the raffle and helping boost the final total.
Among those thanked were Lisa Sharpe at Se Tu, Cristina Mallett Massage Therapist, Karen Cresswell at Casa Aroma, Gleam Studio by Lorena, Anna at Creation Hairdressers and Mike Andrew Custom Valeting.
Further prizes were donated by Susan Costin, Jackie Edwards, Louise Kirkley, Christine Hiom and Louise Bell.
Fortunately, the rain stayed away, allowing everyone to enjoy the gathering and its friendly atmosphere.
Supporting vital cancer care in Jávea
The €820 raised will help Cancer Care Jávea continue its work providing care, support and nursing services to people who need them.
The charity relies on community backing and fundraising to help maintain these services for people facing the challenges of cancer.
Events such as the coffee morning offer more than an opportunity to raise money. They also bring neighbours and friends together around a shared cause, helping strengthen the community support available to those affected by the disease.
Organisers expressed their gratitude to everyone who attended, donated or helped behind the scenes, recognising the generosity that made the fundraiser possible.
The successful afternoon has once again demonstrated the Marina Alta community’s willingness to come together and support a cause that touches so many lives.
