The High Commission responded directly to Sifuna on social media, noting that India had been honoured to assist in bringing Raila's mortal remains home.
"Thank you Senator Edwin Sifuna for your kind words. India stood with Kenya in that moment of profound grief, and we were honoured to assist in bringing the mortal remains of Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga home," the High Commission wrote, adding that Raila's legacy of championing democracy, national unity, and public service would always be remembered.
Sifuna's Tribute to All Who Helped
The Nairobi Senator had extended his gratitude to multiple parties involved in the repatriation effort. Sifuna stated that without the Indian government's prompt response and willingness to navigate certain international travel protocols, the process of bringing Raila's body back to Kenya would have been fraught with logistical difficulties.
Sifuna also directed his thanks to Kenya Airways and specifically acknowledged the pilot and crew of flights 202 and 203, describing both flights as not only possible but also memorable. He further honoured the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) for according Raila a dignified farewell.
Among those Sifuna recognised were ordinary passengers who voluntarily gave up their seats to create room for the team selected to carry out the repatriation mission — a gesture the senator appeared to hold in high regard.
Kenya Airways responded to Sifuna, acknowledging his kind words and promising a better experience.
