The federal government has released a further N4.04 billion for the payment of severance benefits to 600 eligible former workers of Nigeria Airways Limited (NAL), covering Batches 010 and 011 and advancing the settlement of outstanding entitlements owed to former employees of the defunct national carrier.
Accordingly to a press statement Monday, the latest release follows the earlier N18 billion payment announced in September 2026, which covered 2,700 former workers across the initial nine batches. The additional release reflects the Federal Government’s continuing commitment to meeting verified obligations to eligible former employees.
The payment forms part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to address long-standing severance obligations to former Nigeria Airways employees. Payments are being processed in batches based on the verification of eligible beneficiaries and their records, with the objective of ensuring that approved entitlements reach the rightful recipients.
The federal government recognises the prolonged wait experienced by former employees and their families and remains committed to resolving legitimate outstanding claims through an orderly and transparent process, while safeguarding public funds through appropriate verification.
