It’s become almost impossible to guess Luis Enrique’s starting XIs for Ligue 1 games.
The coach loves to rotate in these domestic games, and he’s constantly keeping people guessing with his moves through the whole team.
The fact that he has such good options in every position means he can vary the lineup massively without losing any strength.

For today’s game against Strasbourg, it was known in advance that Marquinhos wasn’t going to play. But his changes have actually gone much further than that. It’s as close to a second string as you’ll see from the coach.
Of course Tuesday night’s game against Barcelona is a huge factor in his thinking.
Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho and Achraf Hakimi jointheir captain Marquinhos in missing out.
That means the team has Matvey Safonov in goal, with a back four featuring Lucas Digne and Warren Zaire Emery at full back, with Ilya Zabarnyi and Lucas Hernandez at centre back.
In midfield, Dro Fernandez makes his latest appearance, alongside Joao Neves. It looks like Lucas Beraldo will sit behind them.
The front three has Ferran Torres leading the line, flanked by Khvicha Kvaratshelia and Maghnes Akliouche.
That is a team that is still packed with world class quality, despite the rotation.
In other news…
Marquinhos is not in the team to face Strasbourg this afternoon as Luis Enrique continues his strict rotation policy.
Maghnes Akliouche probably won’t get the start today – but that doesn’t mean his manager isn’t delighted with his progress.
