Ten years before Selma Blair was arrested for allegedly punching one flight attendant and biting another on Sunday night, the Cruel Intentions star had “a total psychotic blackout” on a flight from Cancun, Mexico, to Los Angeles.
At the time, eyewitnesses said Blair, now 54, was taken off a Delta flight on a stretcher after reportedly losing her cool during the trip and raging about a man abusing her.
As staff attempted to calm her down in the first class section of the plane, Blair — who was travelling with her then-four-year-old son and her ex-boyfriend, fashion designer Jason Bleick — was heard screaming, “He burns my private parts … He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”
When the jet landed at Los Angeles International Airport, Blair was taken off the plane on a stretcher. She was then taken to a nearby hospital.
Blair admitted she mixed alcohol with medication and issued an apology shortly after her behaviour made headlines.
“I made a big mistake yesterday,” she said in a statement shared with Vanity Fair. “After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.

She added that she was “filled with shame over this incident.”
“I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath,” she wrote.

She said that her “saving grace” was knowing that Arthur was fast asleep with his dad at the time.
Blair addressed the ordeal during an appearance on The Talk, saying she “was going through something.”
“I had a glass of wine, someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that I had taken before, which I don’t take on a regular basis,” she said, according to Page Six. “It was completely different. A very bad choice and I had a total psychotic blackout.”
At the time, Blair said her outburst “will not happen again.”
“It was horrible and frightening and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because actually it was so out of character for me, especially now that I am a mother,” Blair added.
She also told PEOPLE she was “fully recovered.”
“I can only say that sometimes you just have a moment that you wish you didn’t have, and you do whatever you can to rise above that and get through it and be a better person,” she said.
Blair ‘bashed her head’ and allegedly caused ‘bite marks’ and a ‘bloody nose’
Blair’s most recent brush with the law came after she had an alleged breakdown on a Delta flight bound for New York from Los Angeles on Sunday. According to eyewitnesses, she allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another.
In emergency dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, the pilot could be heard asking for emergency personnel to be at the gate to help with injuries.
“One passenger and one flight attendant sustained some minor injuries — a bloody nose as well as some bite marks,” the pilot said.
“One additional add-on: it sounds like the disrupted passenger also bashed her head off of the bulkhead or something like that so we will have to get her potentially checked out as well,” the pilot added.
Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, also reportedly attempted to open the aircraft door at some point during the flight and had to be restrained.

The Hellboy actress also allegedly kicked a Port Authority officer as she was being taken to the hospital and assaulted a nurse at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The FBI is currently investigating the incident and Blair is facing multiple charges. According to court records viewed by Entertainment Weekly, Blair faces two counts of assault in the second degree.
She has pleaded not guilty and has been released on bail. If convicted, Blair could serve two to seven years in prison.
A representative for Blair confirmed in a statement to NBC News that she was taken to hospital after disembarking the plane.
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct,” the representative said. “Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
But Page Six uncovered a social media interaction in which Blair told a fan she was “not great” before her alleged freak-out.
“I’m so happy you [sic] feeling great and doing great and making new memories!” one follower wrote on Instagram.
“I’m sad. I’m grateful. I hope. I am not great,” Blair responded.
