In a news release, Charlottetown police said that on Oct. 4, they received a call about a missing indoor cat from an apartment on Norwood Road.
The police said that based on evidence discovered in the laundry room, the cat’s disappearance was reported as suspicious.
Officers from the general patrol and the forensic identification units attended the scene, confirmed the suspicions and started an investigation, the police said.
They said the investigation led to the recovery of the deceased cat at another location.
The 32-year-old man has been charged with causing animals or birds unnecessary suffering.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 19.
