Two top police commanders who led Serbia's most successful law enforcement operations are advising, as they say, their colleagues in the police force to stop hiding their faces, display their identification badges, and above all, uphold the Constitution and the law, the weekly magazine Radar reported.

The magazine published the full joint message sent to active officers by Boro Banjac, the former head of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (UBPOK), and Rodoljub Milovic, the former chief of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP). Their statement reads:
“The deep political crisis we have sunk into with hopes for a better tomorrow places a massive burden squarely on your shoulders. We are all justifiably concerned for the safety of everyone caught up in these frequently ugly incidents, just as we are concerned for the safety of every honorable officer. Consider this a word of advice from older friends and former colleagues.
“Do not hide your faces out of shame for wearing the uniform of a Serbian police officer. Hold your heads high, put your identification badges back on your uniforms, and honorably and proudly defend every letter of the Constitution, the law, the police code of conduct, and the moral standards left to you by your predecessors.”
The statement follows a similar appeal from a few days ago, when a group of 300 security sector veterans and officials, including former heads of the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA), the national police, and the Military Intelligence Agency (VBA), issued a joint call to their colleagues in the police and security forces, urging them to remain faithful to the Constitution, the law, and their professional duty.
