Barcelona have enjoyed unprecedented success under the leadership of Hansi Flick. But like all good things, Flick’s era at Camp Nou comes with an expiry date.
Although Flick did extend his contract recently, he has given no indications or willingness to continue following the expiry of his current deal in 2028.
This has prompted Barcelona to plan for the next phase, and for the longest time, the club have been favouring a move for Cesc Fabregas.

The Catalans have earmarked him as the ideal replacement for Flick when the German eventually departs Camp Nou.
Flick has already indicated that Barcelona will be his final managing role before he retires. And the club are well aware of this expiry date that is coming soon.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona consider Fabregas an ideal candidate as he has the Barcelona DNA, having played for the club for many years and as a youth player as well.
Fabregas doing wonders at Como
Fabregas is liked not only because of the Barcelona DNA that he has, but also for the way he has been able to transform the Como side.

The former Arsenal star famously led Como to a Champions League finish last season. The Italian team hasn’t disappointed in the big leagues as well, notably winning two of their first three matches.
Como have secured wins over RB Leipzig and Manchester United this season, with their only defeat coming against Feyenoord.
The way Fabregas has been able to develop talents at Como has not gone unnoticed at Barcelona and the Catalans are likely to approach the Spaniard once Flick’s era at Camp Nou comes to an end.
For now, though, Fabregas appears more than happy at Como and has not given any indication to leave the club, which plays into the hands of Barcelona since the Catalans are also well settled with Flick at the moment.
