Nigeria international Alex Iwobi scored the decisive goal as Fulham secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday, earning their first win of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The Super Eagles midfielder struck in the 33rd minute to end Fulham’s six-match winless run and hand manager Álvaro Arbeloa his first Premier League victory since taking charge in July.
The result lifted Fulham’s points tally to five, moving them off the foot of the table and out of the relegation zone, while Hull remained ninth.
Fulham took the lead in the 100th meeting between the sides in all competitions after Hull twice failed to clear their lines. Sander Berge collected the loose ball and slid a pass into Iwobi’s path on the edge of the penalty area.

Iwobi drove a low shot towards the bottom-right corner. The effort took a deflection off Lucas Herrington and slipped beneath Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis to put the hosts ahead.
The goal proved decisive in a closely contested encounter, with Hull struggling to create clear-cut chances. Mohamed Belloumi dragged a second-half effort wide, providing one of the visitors’ few notable opportunities.
The victory offered relief for Arbeloa, whose side had struggled to turn promising performances into wins during their opening league fixtures.
However, Fulham finished the match with 10 men after Ryan Sessegnon received a straight red card in added time for a challenge on Robinio Vaz. Sessegnon’s studs caught the back of Vaz’s calf from behind, leaving the hosts to see out the closing moments a man down.
Despite the late setback, Iwobi’s strike secured three valuable points for Fulham as they began their push to move away from the relegation zone.
