Meanwhile, the project disclosed the pending movement before the tokens appeared onchain, telling holders that the announcement was intended to identify the transaction when it became visible in blockchain records.
At the October 22 reference price of $0.053035, the proposed 13 million-token transfer has an indicative market value of roughly $689,455. The calculation uses the prevailing market quotation, not an announced consideration or confirmed sale price.
The amount represents approximately 0.33% of the reported 3.885 billion S circulating supply. Since it concerns an anticipated transfer of existing tokens, the announcement does not itself establish new issuance or dilution.
In an August strategy update, Sonic leadership described discussions with investors across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. Potential arrangements included network validation, market access and distribution, with partners expected to contribute to the ecosystem’s commercial development.
Previously, Sonic completed a $10 million strategic S token sale to Galaxy in May 2025 to support its U.S. expansion. Nothing in the latest statement identifies Galaxy as the new counterparty, however.
Sonic’s Token Strategy Follows October Airdrop Deadline
The planned OTC transfer comes after Sonic set October 15 as the final deadline for claiming remaining Season 1 and Season 2 airdrop allocations.
An April project notice estimated that approximately 32.69 million S remained unclaimed at the time. Tokens still locked after the deadline became eligible for permanent burning, although the notice did not establish the final amount actually destroyed.
The company said future incentive allocations would increasingly support targeted ecosystem activity, with remaining amounts potentially used for incentives, later distributions or burns. The announced OTC movement is a distinct arrangement from that expired claim process.
Sonic has undergone management changes this year. In June, Andre Cronje, Michael Kong and David Richardson left the organization’s board, while Matt Visser became chief executive and Kosta Kourkoumelis took the chief operating officer role.
The leadership transition followed a prolonged slide in the S token and criticism of the project’s previous direction. Sonic’s subsequent communications emphasized revenue-producing products and partners capable of bringing distribution to the network.
S Price Retreats as Futures Open Interest Declines
S traded near $0.053 at press time, down almost 6% over 24 hours, despite retaining a 35% gain over the preceding month. Daily spot market figures showed approximately $38.71 million in trading volume.
CoinGlass derivatives data placed Sonic futures open interest around $31.44 million, down more than 13%, while reported futures volume fell 30% to $64.25 million.
Open interest measures outstanding derivatives positions. Its contraction alongside a falling token price is consistent with reduced leveraged exposure, but the figures alone cannot establish whether traders closed longs voluntarily, experienced liquidations or covered short positions.
The reading remained above the $15 million to $25 million range seen during much of August and September, after briefly exceeding $50 million in mid-October.
Spot exchange flow data recorded an estimated $120,110 net inflow on October 22. More tokens arriving on exchanges can increase available selling supply, although deposit activity does not prove those tokens were sold.

The same series showed a single inflow exceeding $1.5 million in mid-October as S approached $0.07, followed by alternating daily deposits and withdrawals. Those movements do not identify individual traders or establish the source of the upcoming OTC tokens.
Sonic Price Faces $0.052 Support After October Rally
On the daily chart, Sonic had pulled back from October highs above $0.07, with trading concentrated close to $0.053. The Aroon indicator showed Up at 0% and Down at 35.71%, indicating that the recent upward trend had weakened.
The Chande Momentum Oscillator stood at -18.11, showing negative momentum without reaching the more extreme -50 threshold. Its reading does not identify the OTC transfer as the cause of the decline.

Immediate support stood near $0.052, followed by $0.050. A break beneath that psychological level could expose $0.045, while recovery would encounter resistance near $0.060 and then $0.070.
