ONE Championship has signed another unbeaten talent, and this one has a habit of ending fights early.
Kazakhstan’s Adlan Umarov has officially put pen to paper with the world’s largest martial arts organization, carrying a perfect 4-0 record into its talent-laden featherweight MMA division.
Umarov has never heard the final bell as a professional, bringing a perfect 100 percent finishing rate across all four of his victories.
On the regional circuit, the 23-year-old has shown he carries enough power to finish fights on the feet. His grappling, however, is what makes him a complete threat.
It all starts with his bruising wrestling. Umarov shoots with purpose, drives opponents to the canvas with authority, and pins them beneath heavy top pressure and punishing ground-and-pound.
Escaping the punishment only invites another danger. As opponents scramble to survive, Umarov pounces on the openings his pressure creates and hunts for the submission. In fact, he put each of his last three foes away with a rear-naked choke.
His frame adds another layer to the threat. Standing 5-foot-9 with a 71.3-inch reach, Umarov brings an imposing stature to the featherweight MMA division. That length, paired with his killer instincts, could present the division with a new problem to solve.
Umarov also belongs to a new generation of talent emerging from Kazakhstan. The nation’s grappling roots run deep, and its fighters have long made their presence felt on the global stage.
Chief among them is former ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov, who paved the way for the countrymen who followed.
Now, the promising newcomer steps forward to write his own chapter. He enters a division ruled by ONE Featherweight MMA World Champion Tang Kai, and with size, wrestling, and finishing power in his arsenal, Umarov has the makings of a contender worth watching.
