Kenya Power announces outages in parts of 5 counties on Thursday, October 15

• Kenya Power and Lighting Company scheduled maintenance outages affecting parts of Nairobi and four other counties on Thursday, October 15, 2026
• The interruptions are set to run from as early as 8am to 5pm across all affected areas and their neighbourhoods
• Residents and businesses in areas including Kasarani, Westlands, Tassia, and several other locations are among those affected

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned power interruptions across five counties on Thursday, October 15, 2026, affecting dozens of residential and commercial areas.

The utility firm issued the notice on Wednesday, October 14, citing the need to carry out routine maintenance and upgrades on its distribution network.

According to KPLC, such interruptions are periodically necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrading of power lines, connection of new customers, and replacement of infrastructure during road construction works.

Nairobi areas facing outages

Three separate zones within Nairobi are scheduled for outages from 9am to 5pm.

Area: Kasarani

Kasarani, Warren Concrete, Shrink Park, Haco, part of Muirigo, Maternity, Mt. Laverna Sch, St. Francis Hospital, Kwa Zulu, Hunters, Mugumoini, Sunton, Majimazuri, Aberdare Ngomongo Police, and Garage.

Area: Part of Westlands

Kipkabus Rd, Stima Sacco, Mushembi Rd, part of Ngara Rd, Museum of Kenya, Chemelil Rd, Pokot Rd, part of Westlands Rd, Stanbic Bank, Pushotam, and Standard Chartered Bank.

Area: Tassia (from 8am to 5pm)

The whole of Kwa Ndege Area, the whole of Makuti, the whole of Riverbank Tassia, Amani Court, Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket Tassia, Tassia Catholic, Tassia High Street, Melisa Academy, behind Naivas Supermarket Nyayo Gate B, Tassia Hill, and Tassia Community Church.

Outages planned in four other counties

Kiambu

Area: Sasini, Tinganga (from 9am to 5pm)

Sasini, Tinganga Mkt, Tinganga Sec & Pri, Ngemwa, and Kangongo.

Area: Part of Thindigua (from 9am to 5pm)

Quickmart Thindigua, Thindigua Gardens, and Lilac.

Kitui

Area: Kaliku, Malalani, Endau (from 8am to 5pm)

Kisalu, Kamanyu, Kaliku, Yiuku, Endau, Malalani, and Makongo.

Nyeri

Area: Aaa Growers (from 9am to 5pm)

AAA Growers & adjacent customers.

Area: Kiamuiru, Githiru, Satima (from 9am to 5pm)

Mugwathi Gardens, Kiamuiru Pri, Kiamuiru Catholic, Satima Millers, Vetpro, Kiamuiru Booster, Githiru C/Fact, Githiru Polytechnic, Githiru Mkt, Kiamuiru Sawmill, Kwa Rhoda, Kwa Kigera, Muruguru SDA, and Jubilant.

Kajiado

Area: Oloolua, Kajiado (from 9am to 5pm)
