The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says internally displaced people and families returning from neighbouring countries are facing various humanitarian crises and need assistance.
The organisation wrote on its X account on Saturday, October 17, that hunger, natural disasters and multiple overlapping crises have made life more difficult for families in Afghanistan.
According to the organisation, more than one million people have been forced to return to Afghanistan from neighbouring countries.
UNHCR added that many of these people are returning to the country under difficult circumstances and face an uncertain future.
The organisation warned that the large-scale return of migrants has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and increased the need for urgent assistance.
The agency stressed that greater support is needed to provide essential, life-saving assistance to families in need.
