Former Terengganu exco member and Bukit Besi assemblyman Roslee Daud dies at 66 at Dungun Hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties
DUNGUN: Former Terengganu State Executive Council (Exco) member Roslee Daud passed away at Dungun Hospital here at 5.14 am today.
His son, Mohd Hazwan, 40, said his father complained of breathing difficulties while at their home in Bukit Besi around 4.30 am and he was taken to the Bukit Besi Health Clinic and subsequently transferred to Dungun Hospital for further treatment.
However, he said medical officers confirmed his father had passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
“My father’s health had been declining since August, and he frequently sought treatment for a heart condition at Dungun Hospital and HSNZ (Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah),” he said when met by reporters at Dungun Hospital today.
The deceased, aged 66, who was also the former assemblyman for Bukit Besi, suffered from heart disease and had undergone a coronary angioplasty procedure at HSNZ in Kuala Terengganu on Oct 1.
Roslee leaves behind a widow, Azizah Abd Kadir, 66, and nine children aged between 22 and 42. Mohd Hazwan said his father’s remains would be laid to rest at the Bukit Besi Muslim Cemetery after Zohor prayers today.
The former exco was first elected as Bukit Besi assemblyman under Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th General Election (GE13) in 2013.
He was subsequently appointed as state executive councillor under the administration of the then-Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, holding the portfolio of Entrepreneur, Rural Development, Consumer Affairs, and Cooperatives Committee.
In 2016, Roslee held the Health, Women, Family, and Community Development portfolio.
