The new-look Minnesota Timberwolves began the 2026-27 season as close to perfect as imaginable, taking down the Miami Heat and their duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in blowout fashion. The T'Wolves' new backcourt duo, Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, hit their stride from the opening tip. Edwards poured in a stellar 45 points on 16-of-29 shooting and 9-of-17 from three-point range, while Ball posted 21 points and six assists in the 131-106 win.
If Minnesota's new-look backcourt needed time to acclimate, it certainly didn't show on Wednesday, and after the game, the duo offered each other high praise. Amazingly, showing just how much they're on the same wavelength, the praise from each guard for the other was virtually the exact same.
In a postgame conversation, Ball told ESPN that he feels like he has the best shooting guard in the world.
"The relationship is all the way up...I feel like I've got the best shooting guard in the world," Ball said.

Ball's high praise for Edwards was well deserved, and the duo looked great. However, to make the comments even more notable, Edwards, in a different interview, essentially echoed that praise right back at his new backcourt mate.
"I got, to me, the best point guard in the NBA on my team, so I gotta take advantage of it," Edwards said of Ball.

It's pretty incredible that these two comments didn't come with the duo standing side by side. It also highlights how each player truly feels about the other and makes it easy to see why the Timberwolves started clicking so quickly in the 2026-27 regular season.
