The Los Angeles Dodgers have plenty to worry about on the field right now, but one of their outfielders has taken issue with what fans are seeing between innings of the MLB playoffs.
Dodgers outfielder Alex Call called on Major League Baseball and its broadcast partners to pull what he described as “soft porn ads” from playoff broadcasts, arguing that parents shouldn’t have to worry about what might pop up on screen while watching games with their kids.
Playoff Commercial Spark Outrage
While baseball is one of the more family-friendly things you could put on television, the commercials throughout the postseason have not exactly been that way. And one fan was quick to point that out.
“Hey @MLB – wanna get more kids watching baseball? Maybe start with the commercials,” wrote baseball fan Taylor Murphy in a post on X.
Murphy listed “Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit,” “The scariest movie trailer you’ve ever seen,” and “Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports.”
Murphy was referencing Sweeney’s commercial for Novig, a sports prediction market. The ad shows the actress using sports equipment to cover herself while otherwise wearing no clothes. The ad has already drawn criticism from several female athletes, including Sophie Cunningham.
“Leagues can’t figure out why kids don’t watch. You don’t need a Nickelodeon game. You’re not the Savannah Bananas. Just show baseball in a way I can leave on in my house,” Murphy added.
‘Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this’
The post went absolutely viral and attracted the attention of a Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Alex Call, who shared Murphy’s post on Wednesday and backed him up.
“Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women [sic] could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this,” Call wrote.
Murphy then thanked the Dodgers outfielder for the support.
“Thanks for spreading the message, Alex! It really is a shame,” Murphy replied.
Call’s post quickly took off as well, racking up more than a million views. Clearly, he isn’t the only one who has noticed what’s been airing during the playoffs this year.
