KUALA LUMPUR: Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah made history by becoming the first Malaysians since 2008 to reach the Denmark Open final on Saturday.
The world No. 5 defeated China's world No. 30 Bao Li Jing–Cao Zi Han 21-16, 21-14 in their semi-final at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense.
Their breakthrough ended Malaysia's 18-year wait for a women's doubles finalist at the tournament, following Chin Eei Hui–Wong Pei Tty's title-winning run in 2008.
Pearly–Thinaah will face either Japan's Hinata Suzuki–Nao Yamakita or compatriots Sumire Nakade–Miyu Takahashi in Sunday's final as
they bid to emulate Eei Hui–Pei Tty's triumph.
