Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday directed BSNL to begin installing new telecom mobile towers on the 39 sites allocated by the Udupi district administration.
Speaking at a meeting in Manipal called to review the progress of BSNL projects in the district, Mr. Poojary said that the administration has allocated the sites based on requirements for the construction of new towers.
He directed BSNL officials in the district to resolve network-related issues and provide quality service to customers on par with private telecom service providers.
Mr. Poojary stressed the need to upgrade BSNL installations across Udupi district from 3G to 4G to ensure superior service delivery. He instructed officials to maintain towers systematically and prevent network disruptions.
Network issues in DC office
Network issues are being observed at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Manipal and nearby hospitals. These problems must be addressed to improve network connectivity, the MP said.
Mr. Poojary stated that he would hold monthly meetings in the district to monitor the issue and insisted that measures be taken to ensure problems are resolved by the next meeting.
Referring to complaints regarding network issues at tourist and religious sites like Kapu and Kamalashile, he instructed officials to take necessary steps to address them.
Install diesel generators
The MP also directed that diesel generator sets be installed and made operational at all district facilities, including mobile tower sites, and that power systems function continuously. Batteries or solar-powered battery systems should be installed wherever necessary.
He directed the Forest Department to start clearing trees at the BSNL Kukkundi site in Perdoor as soon as possible.
Mr. Poojary instructed officials to arrange for electricity connections to mobile towers in Karje (Brahmavar Taluk) and Katapadi (Kapu).
The meeting was attended, among others, by N.K. Sukumaran, Chief General Manager, BSNL Bengaluru Division.
