The Chahan Dam water supply project in Rawalpindi is scheduled for completion by December 2027 and is expected to provide clean drinking water to more than 250,000 residents.
Punjab Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Minister Bilal Yasin announced the timeline during a visit to the project site, where he reviewed construction progress on the water filtration plant.
Yasin described the project as a gift from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to Rawalpindi residents, saying it would improve access to clean drinking water and essential civic services in several parts of the city.
Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials briefed the minister on the project, which is being funded by the Punjab government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project carries a total cost of Rs. 35 billion, with work beginning in October 2024.
