Duke returns home to Wallace Wade Stadium to host archrival North Carolina on Saturday in a key ACC showdown.
The big story heading into the game is the status of Blue Devils star running back Nate Sheppard, who was listed as questionable in the latest injury report. The sophomore leads the nation in rushing (148.6 yards per game) and all-purpose yards (180.8 ypg), but he appeared to suffer an ankle injury this past Saturday in Duke’s loss to Georgia Tech.
The Tar Heels are coming off an upset win over previously undefeated Pittsburgh and stand 3-2, including 1-1 in ACC play.
It looks like a defensive battle, as the Blue Devils and Tar Heels are stingy on defense, with Duke allowing 14.4 points per game while UNC gives up 19.0 points per game.

Duke vs. UNC predictions, betting odds
Odds via BetMGM.
- Duke 21, UNC 17. A few weeks ago, this game looked like it would be a rout by Manny Diaz’s squad, but the Tar Heels have vastly improved while also getting rid of some outside problems that were plaguing the program. North Carolina is stingy on defense, allowing just 19 points per game, so Nate Sheppard (if he is available) and company will struggle at times. Still, the Blue Devils have the best player (Sheppard), and quarterback Walker Eget has shown massive growth as the season goes on. Plus, don’t overlook Duke’s defense, which allows just 14.4 points per game. It will be a low-scoring affair, but the Blue Devils get it done at home. - Brian Stultz
