A total of 117 police officers were promoted to higher ranks in the Oshana region yesterday, with Commissioner Andreas Shilelo handing over their new ranks during a promotion ceremony.
The promotions covered different ranks within the Namibian Police Force, including chief inspector, senior inspector, inspector, warrant officer and sergeant.
The promotion figures show that one officer was promoted to chief inspector, four to senior inspector and seven to the rank of inspector.
A further 15 officers were promoted to warrant officer class one, while 27 were promoted to warrant officer class two.
Meanwhile, 34 officers received promotions to sergeant class one and 29 to sergeant class two.
The promotions recognise the officers’ service and mark an important step in their careers within the police force.
Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Shilelo highlighted the importance of understanding police ranks, respecting senior officers and carrying out duties with discipline and professionalism.
“Promotion is a sign of hard work, dedication and commitment to serving the nation,” Commissioner said.
He also emphasised the importance of knowing the ranks within the police force and understanding the responsibilities that come with each position.
Promotion brings greater responsibilities, and officers are expected to continue serving the public with commitment, discipline and respect for the law.
The ceremony also highlighted the importance of respecting senior officers and maintaining good working relationships among members of the police force.
Police officers play an important role in maintaining law and order, preventing crime and protecting members of the public.
The newly promoted officers are expected to use their experience and skills to improve service delivery and contribute to safer communities.
The promotions mark a new stage in the officers’ careers as they take on their duties at their respective ranks.
The event also served as a reminder that police officers must remain committed to their responsibilities and uphold the standards of the Namibian Police Force.
