Quebec-based exploration technology startup Quminex has secured $1.5 million CAD (~$1.06 million USD) in pre-seed venture capital financing to accelerate the commercial development and field deployment of its proprietary Quminex Discovery Platform™.
The investment round was led by deep-tech venture firm Quantacet, with participation from Swiss-based global venture capital firm QAI Ventures and angel investors. In tandem with the capital raise, Quminex announced the successful completion of its first commercial contracts with private explorer Tech-X Resources Inc. and a mid-tier Canadian mining producer, providing real-world validation for its computational modeling stack on active properties.
Co-founded by CEO Marc Fassbender, Quminex aims to modernize how critical mineral deposits—essential for the energy transition and national supply chain security—are located. Early-stage mineral exploration traditionally relies heavily on subjective expert judgment applied to sparse, fragmented geological data, resulting in high capital risk and long timelines. The Quminex Discovery Platform™ addresses this bottleneck by transforming complex geochemical, geophysical, and spatial datasets into explainable, testable mineral system models using proprietary machine learning workflows, feature engineering, and high-performance computing.
The capital will be used to expand the company’s technical team, scale its modeling algorithms, and directly acquire prospective exploration licenses across Canadian jurisdictions to build an internal portfolio of high-probability targets.
