The All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) on Friday wrote to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking her intervention to ensure that OBC enumeration and caste codes remain within the constitutional framework.
In a letter, AIOBCSA national president G. Kiran Kumar requested the President’s office to ensure the inclusion of OBCs in the Census 2027 questionnaire and the introduction of standardised, State-wide unique caste codes for all castes, including OBCs, SCs and STs. He also sought directions to the relevant authorities to review the census framework and ensure accurate, transparent and comprehensive caste enumeration.
“An accurate caste census is essential for equitable representation, effective welfare policies, and the realisation of constitutional principles of equality and social justice,” an excerpt from the letter read.
