George Stephanopoulos, 65, hits the beach with famous wife as fans left stunned by GMA star's appearance

George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth made the best of a holiday weekend.

George, 65, and Ali, 61, who have been married since 2001, seemingly spent the long weekend at their home by the beach in the Hamptons.

Ali took to her Instagram page with a slew of photos from their cozy weekend away, which included selfies at the beach, sleepy mornings in, lots of chocolate desserts, and playing with their dogs.

"This weekend was not made by Ai," the comedienne captioned her post. "It was made with love, connection, empathy, nature and an abundance of chocolate…."

Many fans in particular wanted the recipe for her delectable-looking chocolate chip cookies, while others responded with comments like: "I love your normalcy! And those dogs, please, adorable!!" and: "Love this!! Looks like a lovely & peaceful weekend!"

Some were especially enchanted by seeing a more casual side of George, who is famously a lot more composed and coiffed for his morning appearances on Good Morning America, with comments such as: "I swear. My next president is looking good," and: "George appears to take his rest very seriously!" plus: "You two are the cutest."

George took the day off from GMA on October 12, as did his co-anchor Michael Strahan. They both rejoined Robin Roberts the following morning for business as usual.

This December marks the former White House communications director's 17th year with the morning news show, when he took over for Diane Sawyer on GMA. And he's definitely been around to catch some notable moments on the ABC show, whether it involves him or his co-hosts.

Speaking with People in November 2025 about his favorite memory from co-anchoring the show, in time for GMA's 50th anniversary, he sweetly shared: "My favorite moment, if I had to say, was the day that Robin came back from a bone-marrow transplant and said, 'Good morning, America' for the first time."

From August 2012 to February 2013, Robin took a break from the show to undergo a bone-marrow transplant to treat her rare blood disease, known as myelodysplastic syndrome, with George noting "she had a tough road."

"For her to come back and greet the audience again — and greet all of us again — it was just a proud moment, a joyful moment," he recalled. "It was a fulfilling moment, and it was a toast to the future."

Looking back on his early days with the program, George said: "When they first came to me with the idea that I should join Robin as a co-anchor, I said, 'Are you kidding? That's not what I do.'  And I said, 'No.' We were living in D.C. at the time, and I just didn't think it was the right fit for me."

"But thankfully, the president of ABC News at the time, David Westin, persisted and he was very persuasive and he asked me a second time, I demurred the second time, but the third time, he made a heartfelt and very persuasive pitch, and I said yes," he continued, calling the decision to accept the role "one of the best professional decisions I ever made."
