ULSAN — Lee Young-soon, a former National Assembly member, has taken office as the new head of Ulsan Facilities Corp., a local public enterprise under the Ulsan Metropolitan Government.
The city said on the 20th that it had formally appointed Lee as chairperson of the corporation. The three-year term runs from that day through Oct. 19, 2029.
Lee previously served as head of Ulsan's Dong-gu District during the second elected local government term and as a member of the 17th National Assembly. Through roles in local administration, parliamentary work and civil society, Lee built experience in public policy and conflict mediation.
The city began an open recruitment process for the post in August and selected Lee as the final candidate after document screening and interviews. Lee's integrity and ability to perform the duties were then reviewed at a confirmation hearing held by the Ulsan Metropolitan Council, completing the appointment process.
Lee outlined plans to apply the city administration's vision for its ninth elected term — "Ulsan, a democratic city owned by its citizens" — to the corporation's operations. To that end, Lee presented five basic management principles: citizen-centered service management, facility management with safety as the top priority, accountable management based on integrity and transparency, management through communication with employees, and efficient management driven by performance and innovation.
"The new chairperson is someone who has reflected residents' views in administration through service as a district head and a National Assembly member," Ulsan Mayor Kim Sang-wook said. "Based on that experience and communication skills, we expect a contribution to the safe management of public facilities and to improving services that citizens can feel."
