LeBron James Gets Disrespected by Knicks Fans With Brutal Chants at MSG

LeBron James found himself at the center of a hostile Madison Square Garden atmosphere as New York Knicks fans made their feelings known.

The veteran star's connection to the franchise has taken a fresh turn, adding another layer to an already heated rivalry.

The chants grew louder when James stepped to the free-throw line.

SNY's Ian Begley reported ""We don't want you!" chants from the MSG crowd picked up a lot of steam with LeBron James at the foul line."

The moment reflected the growing tension between the superstar and a fan base that has long wondered what might have been.

The hostility extended beyond James. Knicks fans also broke into "F**k Embiid" chants, taking aim at Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid.

The reactions added another layer to the season-opening matchup between two Eastern Conference rivals.

James' connection to New York makes the reception particularly interesting. Before choosing Philadelphia, he admitted that he had envisioned playing at Madison Square Garden and finishing his career there. He described the arena as one of the best places for a basketball player.

"I had visions of playing in [Madison Square] Garden and finishing my career in the Garden," James said during the 76ers' media day, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "One of the best places I've ever played."

But the Knicks' championship success changed the equation. New York captured the title without James, ending its long wait for a championship. James acknowledged that joining the team after that triumph would have been difficult to sell.

"Y'all wouldn't have let me lay that down, at all," he said, referring to the potential reaction to joining the reigning champions.

For James, the reception is another reminder of the expectations that follow him into every arena. For New York, the message was clear. The Knicks have their own championship team, and their fans appear comfortable with the path they took to get there.
