CLOT Chopped up adidas’ Superstar

CLOT's ability to dress up adidas' signature Superstar sneaker without removing the characteristics that make the Superstar the star it is deserves to be studied.

This is far from an easy feat, but CLOT pulls this balancing act off quite well. That's thanks in no small part to CLOT's founder, Edison Chen, having nearly two decades of experience working with adidas.

For its latest in a long series of collabs with the Three Stripes, CLOT turned the adidas Superstar into a pistachio-dusted mule.

CLOT'S design hallmarks like the serrated outsole, wedged midsole, and suede upper can be found all across the shoe. These touches elevate the humble adidas Superstar without straying too far from the design language that laid the foundation for the sneaker's historic run.

While the Samba has been clogging up the airways in recent years, the Superstar was actually the Three Stripes' first viral shoe. Before influencers, before Instagram virality, the Superstar solidified itself in the sneaker hall of fame with some hip-hop-forward co-signs.

Shout out to Run-D.M.C.. Because achieving widespread sneaker acclaim without the backing of cultural giants — it's tricky!

In addition to sharpening and lifting the outsole. The classic Superstar sneaker also chops off the heel, turning the Superstar into a slip-on mule.

In addition to the Superstar mule, this collection also includes apparel and a similarly lifted denim-dusted Superstar, which still has its back intact.
