OAXACA, Mexico – The state of Oaxaca has been officially nominated for “Best Culinary Destination” in the prestigious Food and Travel Reader Awards 2026, a recognition that highlights outstanding tourism experiences and gastronomic excellence in the industry.
The State Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) has called on the public to cast their votes via the official competition website. The voting period will remain open until January 22, 2027.
Oaxaca’s representation in the awards extends beyond the state’s overall culinary reputation, with several high-profile local projects nominated across various categories:
Mario Come Oaxaca is nominated for Best Gastronomic Content Creator.
Francisco Coronado is vying for Best Tourism Content Creator.
Selva Oaxaca Cocktail Bar, located in Oaxaca de Juárez, is competing for Best Bar in Mexico.
Ennea, situated in Puerto Escondido, is nominated as the Best Boutique Hotel.
The nominations were compiled based on proposals from 52 industry experts with extensive experience in hospitality, along with the Food and Travel Editorial Council.
This recognition builds on Oaxaca’s established prestige; the city of Oaxaca de Juárez was recently honored for the second consecutive year as Mexico’s Best Gourmet Destination by the UK-based travel and gastronomy magazine, Food and Travel.
