Johannesburg - IOL’s 2026 Town Hall Debates bring six Ekurhuleni mayoral candidates face-to-face with residents on Monday, putting questions about crime, corruption and service delivery at the centre of the election debate ahead of the November 4 local government polls.
The live debate, which will start at 11am, features mayoral hopefuls from ActionSA, the EFF, DA, Patriotic Alliance, Rise Mzansi and BOSA.
Without cheering crowds or campaign-style interruptions, the town hall format will give candidates the opportunity to put their policy proposals forward.
The debate comes as Ekurhuleni faces persistent service delivery challenges and concerns about crime and corruption.
The metro has also experienced high levels of murders of women in and around Kempton Park over the past three months, raising further questions about public safety.
The Ekurhuleni discussion forms part of IOL’s four-day Town Hall Debates, running from October 19 to 22, featuring mayoral candidates from Gauteng’s largest metropolitan municipalities.
With election day approaching, the debates provide a public platform for residents to question candidates on the issues affecting their communities and examine the commitments being made ahead of the polls.
