Lincoln Riley and the No. 16 USC Trojans missed a big opportunity to improve its resume this season after underperforming in disastrous fashion following a 24-7 loss to the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night.
Going into the contest, USC boasted a 6-1 record. They shined as one of the best squads in the nation, having a case to make in a place of the College Football Playoffs.
However, their hopes took a major blow after losing to Wisconsin. Their rushing attack suffered the most, falling inside the negatives. The team only managed to score one touchdown for the entire game.

“USC finished with -17 rushing yards in their 24-7 loss to Wisconsin. Negative rushing yards on 25 rushing attempts,” the post read.
How Lincoln Riley, USC performed against Wisconsin
Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans must lock in if they wish to rebuild their case for the CFP. However, the loss to Wisconsin, while not the worst-case scenario, will present more challenges than solutions.
USC did have the lead over the Badgers, having a 7-3 advantage at halftime. However, their lone touchdown was the only score they got as Wisconsin took control of the game in the second half and never looked back.
Jayden Maiava tried to get things going for the offense, but his efforts weren’t enough to spark a rally for the Trojans. He completed 31 out of 50 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown and two interceptions.
Shahn Alston led rushers with seven carries for 28 yards while catching two passes for 12 yards. Taniela Tupou topped the receiving chart with six catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. Trent Mosley came next with five receptions for 45 yards, while Tanook Hines caught four passes for 44 yards.
The No. 16 Trojans will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 9 as kickoff commences on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
