KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Putra-HELP will reopen on Thursday with additional security measures, including "three ancillary police officers" stationed on campus, after a student allegedly injured a teacher, the school said.
In a statement, the school said it had reviewed its safety protocols and enhanced security measures in consultation with the relevant authorities following the incident on Wednesday morning.
Teachers and staff immediately activated emergency response protocols, while police and ambulance services were promptly notified.
The injured teacher was taken to hospital by ambulance and was recovering well, with no critical injuries, the school said.
Students in the affected classroom were able to evacuate, and no other injuries were reported. The school was closed early as a precaution advised by police, and parents were promptly notified to collect their children.
"With immediate effect, three ancillary police officers will be stationed at the school compound and appropriate safety checks will be conducted upon entry to the campus," the school said.
The student is in police custody and is no longer an active student at Tunku Putra-HELP, the school said, adding that the matter remained under police investigation.
"The matter remains under police investigation, and the school will continue to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities," it said.
The school is also exploring more comprehensive, long-term security measures for the campus.
Its senior leadership team will hold assemblies to address the incident, provide assurance, respond to students' concerns and offer counselling support to those who need it.
The school asked the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation, and to respect the privacy of those involved.
