Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles traveled across the pond for their Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. And after falling 19-17 to Jacksonville to move to 2-3 on the season, some fans want Sirianni to swim his way back to the U.S. after the Eagles suffered one of the most brutal losses of the season.
The Eagles came under pressure after Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington scored a 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter. However, Philadelphia bounced back before halftime, taking a seven-point lead.
Despite the comeback, the Eagles never managed to take control of the game as injuries continued to pile up. Sirianni’s timeout management came under scrutiny in the closing moments, as the Eagles left Jacksonville with too much time to respond after taking a late lead.
They eventually suffered their third straight loss after defeats to the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams in previous weeks. Fans are frustrated with the team’s play and are directing their anger at Sirianni.
“Make Sirianni swim home,” a fan wrote.
“Bar Sirianni from re-entering the country,” a fan wrote.
“Eagles will never truly reach their potential with Nick Sirianni at head coach. Everything they’ve done has always been in spite of him, never because of him. Philly’s defense played well enough to win… again — Vic Fangio should quit on this team & ‘coach’ on the flight home,” a fan wrote.
“Just as you said, dude is a fraud. He has been carried by talent and his coordinators for the entirety of his tenure. His game management skills are deplorable and out inability to move the ball in the 2nd half is an indictment on him and his lack of adjustments. Terrible coach,” a fan wrote.
“His whole gimmick is keeping the team together and situational stuff. They are terrible at both. Nobody would hire him as a head coach if he got fired,” a fan wrote.
“Fire him now,” a fan wrote.
The Eagles suffered several injury setbacks during their matchup against the Jaguars. Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby missed the game, while Will Shipley, Jalyx Hunt and Michael Carter II suffered injuries during the game and were ruled out.
Nick Sirianni Took Responsibility for the Loss
In the postgame news conference, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni took responsibility for the defeat.
“I didn’t make the right decision. I lost us that game. And that’s what I said to our guys. What hurts there is that the guys fought so hard, and then I don’t make the decision I should make and cost us the game. I put that fully on me,” he said.
Sirianni hasn’t had a losing record in any season since he joined the Eagles in 2021.
