This week, Victoria Beckham launched a tableware collection, which includes a £119 shell-shaped butter dish and knife set, linen cocktail napkins for £54.99 and a £74.99 serving platter.
But upon its release, interior designers suggested that her range with German home and living giant Westwing lacked any 'wow-factor' and wasn't 'innovative'.
Olivia Boardman, from My Bespoke Room, told the Daily Mail that Victoria's venture was not 'particularly groundbreaking' and said products are similar to cheaper items already available on the High Street, from the likes of Zara and H&M.
'It’s very much like her fashion. Beautiful, sophisticated and understated, but not necessarily something that makes you stop in your tracks and say wow. And that’s absolutely fine. Not everything in interiors needs to make a statement,' added Jordana Ashkenazi, founder and design director of Element One House.
'But is it groundbreaking? No. Is it particularly innovative or something we haven’t seen before? Not really. Could you walk into the affordable high-street homeware stores and find very similar designs at a fraction of the price? Absolutely yes.'
So, can you really compare the former Spice Girl-turned-designer's collection to items from the likes of John Lewis, Dunelm and IKEA?
The Daily Mail has put the idea to the test, finding tableware that looks remarkably similar to Victoria's – including £19 napkin rings from ARKET that rival the fashionista's £54.99 version.
There are also £84 wine glasses from Posh Spice's collection (only available to order on Westwing, a European e-commerce brand) that share similarities with a £7 pack of four available at Tesco.
So, can you tell the luxury designs from the bargains?
