Talksport motormouth pundit Jason Cundy has once again had a pop at Celtic and Scottish football, as the failed footballer attempts yet again to make himself relevant.
Cundy decided to join the massive pile on in Celtic’s direction in the aftermath of yet another disappointing European performance as he showed his complete contempt for our club in particular and Scottish football in general.
Listen, he’s free to and is well within his right to criticise Celtic’s performance, we’ve all been doing the same since Thursday night, but Cundy for being a so called ‘football expert’ has shown a total lack of awareness regarding the situation. Something that his fellow pundits, a chunk of them Scottish didn’t even bother to point out.

Jason Cundy, speaking on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar, criticised Celtic’s performance and questioned the merit of Scottish clubs in European competitions. Cundy said: “Celtic, I don’t know why they bother.
“And again, they have disgraced UK football. What’s the point? They were smashed by Benfica tonight, and it’s the same old, same old story.”
He further challenged the position of Celtic and bitter rivals the Rangers in the broader football sphere during a discussion with Si Ferry, Paul Slane, and Andy Halliday from the Open Goal podcast.
Cundy said: “Do you know what, in a thousand years time, there will be some idiot like you sitting there saying exactly the same thing, and nothing will have changed.
“You can’t live off history, you make history. You can’t keep doing this.”
When asked how many English clubs he believes surpass Celtic and Rangers, Cundy replied: “Every one of them! Because you lot live in a bubble. You live in a bubble in Glasgow.
“Everyone in Newcastle thinks they are a massive football club; they are not. You are the Newcastle of the North. You guys are big in Glasgow, that’s it.”

Some bizarre views from the loudmouth pundit, but ones that are there to be challenged. I’m not interested in him belittling Celtic or our rivals in terms of our ‘size’ as that’s for another day. When he crows about Celtic disgracing ‘UK’ Football, and using words like “smashed” doesn’t he or anyone else think to tell him about Manchester City?
The EPL side were to use Cundy’s terminology “smashed” on their own turf the previous night by a PSG side who looked a class above the Etihad rule breakers. That was a Man City side that cost hundreds of millions to assemble, and when you compare that to the gap between Celtic and Benfica it’s night and day.
It’s just a shame that no one in that debate chose to remind Cundy of that fact.
