One of Malaysia's best-known beach resorts is taking a break as Club Med Cherating prepares for a major makeover
Located along the coast of Pahang, the all-inclusive resort temporarily closed as of 11 October 2026 for extensive renovation works, according to the resort's spokesperson.
The property is expected to undergo a two-year transformation, with plans to introduce refreshed experiences while preserving the natural surroundings that have made it a popular holiday destination.
The resort, which first opened in 1979, was Club Med's first property in Asia
Nestled within more than 80 hectares of preserved jungle, it offers guests a mix of beach activities, nature experiences, and family-friendly adventures.
According to Club Med, the upcoming transformation will continue to draw inspiration from the resort's signature elements, including nature, adventure, connection, and discovery.
Guests can look forward to a reimagined resort with new experiences when it reopens.
However, an exact reopening date has yet to be confirmed.
The resort has been welcoming guests for more than 40 years
Over the decades, Club Med Cherating has become a destination for families and holidaymakers looking to enjoy a tropical getaway.
Beyond its beachfront location, the resort is known for its outdoor activities, including archery, water sports, rock climbing, and nature trails.
It also promotes biodiversity and conservation through initiatives such as wildlife discovery activities and turtle conservation awareness programmes.
The upcoming renovation marks a new chapter for the resort as it looks to refresh its offerings while maintaining its connection to the surrounding rainforest.
