A modern baseball stalwart is coming to an end.
On Monday, MLB Network announced that Intentional Talk would be ending its run after 16 years. The show will run through the World Series, and broadcast one final time on Wednesday, November 4.
The trio of Siera Santos, Ryan Dempster, and Kevin Millar opened their show on Monday by addressing the news. Millar, who has been with the show since its inception in 2011, offered an extended monologue, thanking his cohosts and the many people behind the scenes who helped bring the show to life every day.
“I got a call a few days ago. I’m still processing. I’ve cried. I’ve taken walks. I don’t know how to handle it yet. I don’t know what the future is going to hold. I don’t know. This is all new, and this is all real,” Millar said.
“No matter what’s going on, I want people to understand this at home. As a human being, married with four kids, you’ve got stuff, you got life going just like everybody else does right now. And you come home and you watch this show. The fans of Intentional Talk, the one thing we’ve given you every single day is all we’ve got. I know one thing. I’ve given you everything I have over that one hour for 16 years, no matter what’s going on outside that door.”
Millar had special praise for former cohost Chris Rose, who spent 10 years with the show. As he continued speaking and reminiscing about the history of the program, Santos and Dempster both worked hard to keep their emotions in check, laughing and crying in turn.
“This is a family for me. I talk to you guys daily in the group text message,” Dempster said. “We’re always trying to give the fans that tune into IT the best. A laugh. An enjoyable moment. Solace through a tough time.”
Based on the reaction of all three, it’s pretty clear that the news of the show’s run coming to an end was a surprise.
After 16 seasons, the final episode of Intentional Talk will air November 4th, 2026.
