Following on from their 4-2 defeat to PSG, Manchester City return to Premier League action today when they take on Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca’s side will be looking to make it seven consecutive wins to begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign. However, they’ll face off against an Ipswich Town side who made an impressive start to life in the Premier League after being promoted last season. Gary O’Neil’s side sits 10th on the Premier League table, having won three and lost three of their opening six matches this season. Ipswich Town have been impressive so far this season after making some shrewd summer signings.
Gary O’Neil’s side look better equipped for life in the Premier League this time around and Manchester City will have to be at their best to pick up all three points today.
Here is the latest City team news and my predicted Manchester City starting eleven ahead of today’s match.
Latest City team news.
Enzo Maresca once again has a full squad to select from for today’s match. Manchester City picked up no fresh injury concerns following their defeat to PSG in an enthralling UEFA Champions League league phase encounter. That means that Maresca has a host of quality options to choose from today and there is no excuse for his team not to put their best foot forward at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Enzo Maresca did tell the media yesterday that he will need to rotate his squad to navigate a heavy fixture list. A host of Manchester City’s key players have carried a heavy workload for both club and country. Based on Maresca’s comments, you do wonder if he could rotate some of his squad today.
Perhaps today, Vitor Reis could start in the heart of Manchester City’s defence. Marc Guehi has been a prominent player for both club and country. Guehi could be in line for a rest from starting duties. Also, Antoine Semenyo has played both of Manchester City’s matches since the international break. With Phil Foden available for today’s match, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Foden start and Semenyo drop to the bench this afternoon.
As for the rest of the City lineup, I feel that Enzo Maresca’s starting lineup is obvious for today’s match. That can be seen below with the predicted Manchester City starting lineup I’ve chosen which can be seen below.
