The NFL announced that Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be suspended for one contest without pay because of him spitting towards Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers during their matchup on Sunday.
Since the Bills have a bye this week, Gardner-Johnson will miss the contest versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Shortly after the suspension was revealed, the Bills signed their former cornerback Tre’Davious White to the practice squad on Monday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
White played in Buffalo from 2017 until 2023. He had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Ravens in '24, but then returned to the Bills for the '25 season. He started in 16 games for the Bills last season, totaling 40 tackles and one interception, and he started in two postseason games. He only signed a one-year contract, but then he didn't find a home for the 2026 season.

Schefter reported that White had multiple offers from other teams, but he turned those down in order to come back to the Bills this season.
White won't be replacing Gardner-Johnson on the field as they play two different positions, but he'll help bolster the defense in his absence.
This third stint for White in Buffalo will be different than what he's used to. He's joining a pretty young cornerback room, which includes rookie Davison Igbinosun (27 tackles) and second-year player Maxwell Hairston (11 tackles). The Bills originally signed White back to the team last year to help Hairston when he was a rookie, so White will have that task once again this year.
The Bills organization and fanbase loves White, so his addition will at least bring positive vibes to the team. It's unclear how much action White's expected to see on the field.
