(ANSA) - ROMA, 15 OTT - The Italian Ambassador to Senegal, Michele Tommasi, accompanied by the Director of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in Dakar, Alessandro Gerbino, met with the President of the Senegalese Investors’ Club (CIS), Amadou Ly, and a delegation of its members at the club’s headquarters. The meeting provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the activities and strategic projects of the CIS—a key player in the development of Senegal’s private sector—and to explore new avenues for economic cooperation between the two countries. Particular attention was given to the possibility of facilitating direct contacts between Italian and Senegalese entrepreneurs, promoting new business opportunities, and encouraging mutual investment, building on the work already initiated by the Ita office in Dakar. The discussion also highlighted the potential of the Senegalese community residing in Italy, which numbers nearly 132,000 people—including numerous entrepreneurs and investors—and serves as an important bridge between the economies of the two countries. With this in mind, it was also agreed to introduce expedited procedures to facilitate the issuance of business visas, with the aim of easing mobility and exchanges between Italian and Senegalese economic operators.
Ambassador Tommasi described the meeting as “fruitful, an expression of the shared desire to transform opportunities for collaboration into concrete and lasting partnerships.”
