Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy along with Minister Seethakka and others addressing the press meet after inspecting the Warangal super-speciality hospital on Thursday.
Outpatient (OP) services at the upcoming 24-storey super speciality hospital in Warangal will be soft-launched on October 20, on the occasion of Dasara, Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Thursday.
Inspecting the construction works, Mr. Reddy, who is the district incharge Minister, said the project, left incomplete by the previous government, had been expedited and was in its final stages. The hospital is expected to be formally inaugurated in December by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, with the remaining works likely to be completed by the end of November or by December 15. He said the new hospital was expected to cater to 4,000 to 5,000 patients a day from various districts of north Telangana, compared with the present daily footfall of around 3,000 to the MGM Hospital. He said that officials are taking steps to begin essential OP services at the new hospital, making it necessary to shift these services from the MGM Hospital in Warangal.
The government is committed to providing quality healthcare to people in north Telangana despite financial constraints, he said, adding that the new facility would offer specialised medical services on a par with those at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad. He blamed the previous BRS government for the delay in the construction works.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Seethakka, Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narendar Reddy, Mahabubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik, local legislators and District Collectors Satya Sharada and Chahat Bajpai accompanied him during the inspection. Officials briefed the Ministers on the progress of construction and the arrangements for commencing OP services.
