KUALA LUMPUR: Kinergy Advancement Bhd has secured a RM47.5 million subcontract from a Gamuda Bhd subsidiary for electrical works at a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Kinergy said the contract, awarded by Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, covers the construction, completion, testing and commissioning of electrical services and other associated works for the data centre.
The data centre is developed for a multinational technology company headquartered in the United States.
The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028.
Kinergy executive deputy chairman and group managing director Datuk Dr Lai Keng Onn said the contract reflected the company's growing recognition in the data centre sector and the relevance of its technical capabilities in high-specification infrastructure.
He said Malaysia's data centre sector was entering a significant investment cycle.
He cited Malaysian Investment Development Authority figures showing RM95.8 billion in approved investments in data centre and cloud-computing projects in the first half of 2026.
"As developments grow in scale and complexity, we see increasing demand for specialised engineering and power infrastructure, creating a strong opportunity for Kinergy to deepen its participation in the sector," he said.
