Riyadh – Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday the execution of a targeted military operation to neutralize vital resources that it said the Houthi militia uses to fuel its war effort and threaten Saudi Arabia and international waterways.
Saudi Ministry of Defense spokesman, Major General Turki al-Maliki, said that the Houthis use civilian infrastructure and vital resources to support their military operations, including the central Al-Sabaha power plant in Sana'a, underground fuel storage facilities, and fuel tanks and docks used for transporting and unloading fuel in Hodeidah, Sana'a, and Dhamar.
He added that the use of these resources to directly support the Houthis' military operations deprives the Yemeni people of access to them to meet their needs.
Al-Maliki explained that these sites are used to supply the Houthis' arsenal of missiles and drones that threaten Saudi Arabia and the safety of airports, ports, and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
He said this has contributed to the execution of hostile attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, and the planning of imminent attacks against civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and commercial vessels in international waterways.
He stressed that the operation focused on neutralizing the Houthis' capabilities used to threaten Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the southern Red Sea, and waterways.
