Filecoin developers have another way to bring FIL’s dollar value into smart contracts. RedStone deployed a FIL price feed on Filecoin mainnet on October 22, 2026, giving applications on the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) an additional onchain pricing source three days after the network’s Solstice upgrade.
Key takeaways
- RedStone’s FIL/USD oracle is live on Filecoin mainnet.
- Price updates trigger at a 0.5% move or at least every four hours.
- The service adds to FVM’s existing Pyth and Tellor oracle options.
How RedStone’s FIL price feed works
The FIL/USD feed supplies dollar-denominated FIL prices to smart contracts running on the FVM. That programmable layer lets developers build applications on Filecoin, a network best known for file storage.
Oracles bring external information, including asset prices, onto a blockchain for contracts to use. RedStone uses a push mechanism: it writes price updates onchain when its conditions are met, rather than waiting for an application to request them.
A 0.5% change in FIL’s price triggers an update. The feed also refreshes at least once every four hours, including when price movements stay below that threshold.
Another oracle option alongside Pyth and Tellor
Filecoin’s FVM already supports oracle services from Pyth and Tellor. RedStone adds a dedicated FIL/USD source, giving builders another provider to choose from and reducing reliance on a single supplier.
Developers can select the feed design suited to their application or combine multiple data sources. The addition expands those choices rather than introducing oracle services to Filecoin for the first time.
RedStone’s broader oracle infrastructure operates across more than 110 chains. Estimates for 2026 place the total value secured by its services between approximately $4 billion and $9 billion; those figures cover its wider operations, not this Filecoin deployment alone.
Lending and derivatives builders gain a pricing source
Developers building lending protocols or derivatives products on the FVM now have an additional FIL price feed available. The integration supplies FIL’s dollar price for those programmable applications.
The deployment follows Filecoin’s Solstice upgrade on October 19, 2026. Solstice changed block-reward distribution, ending Fil+ DataCap subsidies and shifting incentives toward paid storage usage.
Filecoin has also been extending its programmable capabilities through the FVM and initiatives including Filecoin Onchain Cloud. RedStone’s deployment adds pricing infrastructure to that application environment.
Integration status and adoption measures
Adoption indicators for the feed include FVM protocol integrations, the value relying on its data, and the emergence of FIL lending or derivatives markets. These are measures for assessing use, not evidence of adoption already achieved.
As of the launch announcement, no additional partnerships or user metrics tied to the RedStone–Filecoin integration had been disclosed.
