Beverage giant Heineken has allegedly launched a legal battle against businessman Peter Matsimbe, the husband of South African TV personality Ayanda Thabethe, seeking R42.8 million in unpaid liquor supplies. The case, reportedly filed at the Gauteng High Court, has set tongues wagging online.
According to South African Daily, Heineken is pursuing Matsimbe over 53 outstanding invoices, with the claim also covering interest and legal costs. These remain allegations at this stage, and no findings have been made against Matsimbe in court.
Ayanda Thabethe and Peter Matsimbe's troubled year
The lawsuit surfaces at an already turbulent time for the couple. Rumours have been circulating that Ayanda moved out of the family home in Bryanston and has been staying with her sister. The speculation intensified not long after she publicly announced her pregnancy, and observers took note when she quietly removed Matsimbe's surname from her social media profiles.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports emerged that Peter had listed Ayanda's gifted 2024 Rolls-Royce Cullinan for close to R14 million, with their Bryanston property also reportedly placed on the market.
The alleged Heineken lawsuit has now drawn even more attention to Matsimbe's financial affairs, with many netizens questioning the nature of his business dealings.
