The first nine months of the year saw a roughly 10% decline in the number of passengers passing through Cambodian airports, although the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) reported that cargo tonnage increased by almost one fifth.
According to the SSCA, a total of 4,558,155 passengers travelled through the country’s three international airports — Techo International Airport (KTI), Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS) — from January to September 2026, a decrease of 11% year-on-year.
The number of two-way flight movements fell 2%, to 46,721, in the same period.
Sinn Chanserey Vutha, spokesman for the secretariat, highlighted that despite declines in flight movements and air passenger numbers, air cargo volume recorded a significant increase, reaching approximately 76,294 tonnes, up 18%.
Cambodia currently has 35 airlines operating in the country, including four domestic carriers and 31 international airlines, he said.
He added that the number of overflights through Cambodian airspace also increased by 8% to 69,149.
As of October, Cambodia had signed air services agreements (ASAs) with 48 countries and territories. These include all ASEAN member states, eight countries in East Asia, three in South Asia, six in West Asia, 13 in Europe, two in Oceania, one in North America, one in South America and four in Africa, according to Chanserey Vutha.
In 2025, Cambodia recorded a total of 64,821 two-way flight movements, an increase of 11% from 2024. The number of passengers reached 6,988,259, also up 11%, while air cargo handled totalled 93,889 tonnes, an increase of 21%.
